The Northwest Girls Coalition (NWGC) was formed in the winter of 1999 by a group of professionals working with organizations serving girls. The NWGC was formed so that organizations and individuals working with girls could meet, foster relationships and develop a support system. Within months of its founding, the Coalition grew to over 30 diverse members, and today we have a strong membership of individuals and organizations that share our vision.

Since its inception, the NWGC has maintained a commitment to providing quality educational programming and networking opportunities that bring members of the girl-serving community together. The Leadership Council of the NWGC actively works to achieve these goals by setting policy, defining the mission and goals, developing strategic plans, planning programs, and ensuring the viability of the Coalition.

In May, 2001, the Women’s Funding Alliance became the 501(c)(3) non-profit fiscal agent of the NWGC, making it possible to raise funds to support the efforts of the coalition. As we have continued to grow, the NWGC has pursued its own 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2007.
